Uniwide became a complete
department store and supermarket chain with various strategically -located outlets. Uniwide, upon
registration with the Securities and Exchange Commission, became a full-fledged corporation under the
name Uniwide Sales, Inc. in 1983. Five years later, in 1988,the company introduced the "warehouse club"
concept, a novel idea in the Philippine retail industry.
